New swimmers considering joining ……………….
Please ensure that you have fully completed your teaching lessons in all 4 strokes at lane swimming and have approval from your swim teacher to consider Competitive Swimming. We are keenly interested in male & female swimmers joining 8yrs – 12yrs….
Junior Squad Group 2: This squad is our usual entry group for young swimmers. They train
four hours per week. The swimmer is introduced to competitive swimming in an enjoyable
atmosphere that is not too far removed from what they would have been used to in their previous
teaching club. Training is aerobically based with a small speed element. Attention is also paid
to stroke analysis and correction.
At the beginning of the season, swimmers are segregated into lanes depending on ability.
They would normally progress from Group 2 to Group 1 and then on to Senior Squad.
All our club coaches are qualified and experienced coaches. They have a successful record of coaching swimmers for various levels, including many swimmers at national level each year.
Coaches are willing to help you with any questions or difficulties before or after a training session. We also have squad reps who can liaise with the coaches on your behalf.

Limerick Swimming Club participates in Galas throughout the Munster region (Nenagh, Mallow, Askeaton…). A schedule of events for the region is prepared at the beginning of the season and is posted on the website and Club Notice Board at UL. The events are graded to suit the different levels of ability and performance of swimmers as they progress through the squads. Typically galas take place every 6 weeks in the Munster region and entries for the swimmers events will cost €15-€25 approx. Parents are expected to bring their swimmers to these events. They take place mostly on Saturdays (but occasionally Sundays) and are from 9am-5pm approx.
