Ciara Murphy

Ciara swam competitively with Limerick Swimming Club, and has competed at club, regional, interprovincial, inter-varsity and masters levels. She started teaching swimming in University in Galway, where she also took up long distance kayaking, kayak-polo and waterpolo. She competed at Inter-varsity level in Kayaking and is a qualified L2 kayak instructor. Ciara is an honorary life member of Limerick Triathlon Club, and has competed in triathlon since her teens. She is still involved with LTC in triathlon and open water races. Ciara has Swim Ireland Level 1 Teaching Cert and Level 2 Coaching Cert. She holds an Adv. Diploma in Coaching (NLP) and has experience as a pool and beach lifeguard.

Ciara believes in competitive swimming as a sport, as a mechanism for fitness and socialising, but also as a reinforcement of positive life lessons; the commitment, self-discipline and respect required to train and compete with a swimming club is something that swimmers take with them though the rest of their lives.
