Stephen Phelan

Stephen has been involved as a coach with LSC since 2008, assisting other coaches on and off before returning 5 years ago taking his own group of swimmers. Stephan has worked his way through all the squads and is presently Senior A coach. I have been blessed to assist in the evolution of young athletes from a teaching group all the way up to placing at Division 2, Dave McCullagh, Irish Nationals and National/Munster Squad. But success to me is being better than yesterday, and that is what we strive to achieve. I have been involved with LSC for over 18 years as both a coach and a swimmer, so I am older than I look! I have represented LSC at national level as an athlete while also being a member of the only recent Limerick Lifesaving Team that competed nationally and internationally. I also coach/teach with Seal Swimming Club and UL Sport which have both provided many of our athletes. I have helped out coaching with the Munster Squad, filling in as S&C coach on occasion, and was selected to attend the Interpro meet as one of two Munster Coaches. I am a level 3 qualified coach with Swim Ireland as well as level 2 Swim Instructor. I will have competed a Bachelor of Science in Strength & Conditioning in December 2018.In 2016 I qualified as a Level 1 Nutrition Coach with Precision Nutrition. Also I have both a level 1 & 2 Youth Fitness Specialist Certificate with the International Youth Fitness Association as well as a certificate as a high school S&C coach. In 2014 I completed the ITEC Gym Instructor certificate which assisted me with employment in a fitness studio.
