How to Join

We’re delighted that your child is interested in joining Limerick Swim Club!

Our trials are designed to see how comfortable and confident swimmers are in the water. We’re not looking for perfection — just potential and a love for swimming.

Limerick Swim Club caters for swimmers from age 7, and our entry-level squad typically caters for swimmers up to 10/11 years.

Swimming Trial Requirements (Ages 7–10)

For swimmers aged 7–10, we ask that they can:

  • Swim 25 metres confidently of both Front Crawl and Backstroke
  • Show Front Crawl kick and Breaststroke kick using a kickboard
  • Kick confidently on their back
  • Have a go at a dive (standing or sitting)
  • Enjoy jumping into the deep end without fear

While the joining age is preferably 7 to 10 years, if your swimmer is older and can meet the above criteria, please fill out the form & let our Membership Secretary know. We understand that some children are late bloomers, and we do our best to cater for everyone. The 7–10 year olds will be given priority, and then we will happily revisit applications from older swimmers.

Don’t worry if everything isn’t perfect — our coaches are here to support each swimmer, helping them to develop their skills and grow their confidence in the pool.

Training takes place for our youngest swimmers (Cadet squad), 3 times per week; Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings (from 7am)

Please note - Limerick Swimming Club is a competitive club, and swimmers are expected to compete at galas throughout the season
