
How to Join
Limerick swim club caters for children from 8 years of age, and our entry level squads cater primarily for the age groups between 8 and 10 years of age.
Swimming Requirements for trial (Ages 8-10)
- Must confidently swim 50 metres, (i.e. 2 pool lengths) of front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
- Should be able to go underwater & hold their breath briefly
- Push and glide off the wall & float for 5m
- Kick with a board (front and back) for 25M
- Be able to attempt a dive- standing or sitting, (i.e. not entering with feet or knees)
- Must enjoy jumping in at the deep end without fear
Please ask your current swim coach if unsure.
***Limerick Swimming club is a Competitive club and swimmers are expected to compete in swimming galas throughout the training season.***
Training times
Note, training takes place for our youngest swimmers (Cadet squad), 3 times per week;
- Mondays 7-8pm
- Wednesdays 7-8pm
- Saturdays 7-8am
How to register for Trials
The waiting list for September 2025 intake is now full.
Please check back in August 2025 for further updates.
We will re-open the waiting list for children born in 2015, 2016 & 2017, in due course
Other information
- Children with special needs are welcome at the club. Please consider the criteria for entry above.
- Criteria for children with physical disabilities will be adapted to suit the needs of the swimmer.
- Children over 11 years of age should have previous experience of competitive/endurance swimming, to be eligible to enter our club (subject to availability).
